The Sherborne Times
I have a monthly column in the Sherborne Times entitled “Counter Culture” which is basically an opportunity for me to bang on about bands and artists that I love and highlight some of the more interesting aspects of their careers and output. You can check out my articles by clicking on the button below. I would also recommend visiting the Sherborne Times website for an array of interesting articles by people far more professional than myself……
The Bournemouth based record label Futuristica, home to Marc Rapson, Georgie Sweet and Deborah Jordan.
Futuristica.
Music 4 alternative souls
Purveyors of independent soul, jazz and hiphop, Futuristica have a portfolio of artists to be envied. I first came across the label via a gift of “Misunderstood” an album by Georgie Sweet. Soul was not my first go to at that time but Georgie soon changed that.
Georgie’s debut album was produced by labelmate, Marc Rapson. Incredibly soulful vocals over lush Hip Hop production makes for a fantastically chilled listen that you just want to keep going back to.
Mr Rapson’s production is smooth and engaging which is obviously reflected in his solo work. The album Dark Vs Light is an incredible listen full of Hip Hop beats and Rhodes piano. Marc, a jazz pianist with a Hip Hop head isn’t overt to mixing things up with the use of samplers and live instrumentation.
Futuristica has a wealth of production experience within the label and their standing strengthens with every release. We’re pleased to say that we will be stocking titles from nearly all Futuristic artists over the next few weeks.
